19 life lessons you should learn by now
1. You either have to accept people for who they are or not at all because changing them will be next to impossible. Seriously. Good luck with trying to mold people into what you want them to be. It’s a recipe for disaster. Just know when to cut your losses or stay. Don’t get lost in the in-between.
2.  Your definition of happiness is different from other people’s. What works for you doesn’t necessarily work for them so stop being a Judge Judy about your friends’ life decisions.
3. You have to advocate for yourself because this world is full of shitheads who will take advantage of you. No one can afford to be helpless. You have to learn how to be a (polite) pain in the ass to get what you want.
4. People love you and they don’t. Human beings are fickle. We go to bed in love and wake up feeling trapped. Sometimes a relationship ending has nothing to do with you. Sometimes it has everything. Either way, it’s a waste of time to feel unlovable afterwards because chances are you will fall in love again. The main thing standing in your way is not your perceived shortcomings but fear.
5. You are not obligated to be close to a family member. If any kind of relationship in your life is toxic, it’s in your best interest to establish boundaries.
6. If you buy a piece of clothing that doesn’t fit you and plan to use it as inspiration to lose weight, you will never end up wearing it.
7. Constantly feeling guilt and shame about the “bad” things you’ve done only insures that you’ll do them again.
8. Turn your jealousy about your peers’ success into ambition.
9. Self-respect is one of the greatest gifts you could ever give yourself but it’s also one of the hardest things to obtain.
10. If you find yourself losing jobs, losing friends, and losing relationships constantly, maybe it’s time to consider the possibility that you could be the problem.
11. You can’t go into this world thinking you’re owed something. If you do, you’re going to be permanently unhappy.
12. Hard work is necessary to achieve anything in this life. If you’re wondering why you’re not where you want to be in life, you should consider examining your work habits.
13. Moving cities does not cure unhappiness. Most of the time.
14. You need to be called out on your bullshit from time to time. It’s healthy!
15. Nothing risked, nothing gained. If you find yourself feeling miserable about something like your job, JUST QUIT. You will make it work for yourself. You will unleash your inner-hustler.
16. Don’t drink a shitload of alcohol when you haven’t eaten anything, you dummy!
17. There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure. Own your bad taste!
18. Sometimes it’s better to act first and apologize later.
19. Nothing good happens after 4 a.m. Besides blowjobs.

Honesty
Is being honest always the way to go , you lie cause you don’t wanna let her go . But you wanna let her know your not just …. a Average Joe . Insides burning from the pain you may feel , from her first reactions of you walking down the lane to be real . To honest , to be everything she ask her for , to be the color to her sky & the rim to her backboard . But you go back & forth thinking if honesty is the right way to go cause the object is to keep her & not see her turn & walk out that door . But you wanna show her your honest & your tryna make it threw Round 1 , but just like they say don’t ask questions if you don’t wanna know the answers .Why be honest if you don’t wanna know the outcome . Now , i’ve had my share of women , shared some women , Hell been scared of women … But i’ve always bared with women who compared attention needed only to repair some women . Now im realizen that honesty from the words of the lips , can emerge like a fist , SMACK you & have you feelin lower than ever . You can be closer than ever when you lie , so why be honest & lose when you can be happy and high. It’s like setting yourself up for failure , setting yourself up for a desruction , stressin ,crying , laying in the bed thinking bout nothing , catching a emotional case, starin off in space .. Getting on myspace just to see if they took you off there top . Cause you don’t wanna do it , but you don’t wanna be the first , & you also wanna be like every man but you don’t wanna be the curse . See women are the verse to the most unique sound we all cherish & when you find them set of words that you enjoy , being honest is helpless . That’s what we think when we were honest & lose . So women if you don’t like the truth don’t ask for a honest dude . Understand a man comes a dime of doz & just because i have a mind of love doesn’t mean ima wine & dine you up ….Just respect what you ask for & will be alright . And when im honest & it’s a problem … Respect when I lie . Is being honest reall worth it ? …..

A few thoughts on creative flow.
It starts with experiences and your senses. The consumption of many things in a short amount of time. After-all: It’s the ideas and feelings and flavors of life that you consume which will influence what you create, as no idea comes from nothingness.
Once you’ve consumed enough to give spark to a lot of varied ideas, you have to utilize what Freud once referred to as your primary thinking process. Primary process is subconscious, the thinking in your brain that deals with symbolism and condensed thoughts. It’s the part of the brain that isn’t concerned with solving math problems, making coffee, or driving to the grocery store. No heavy thinking, just quickly bouncing around thought after thought (preferably written down at this stage).
The best way to access the primary process is to do what Edward de Bono refers to as “creative pause.” Do something mundane or routine, where the second process type of thinking (the logical process) can take a break and the primary process can utilize more of your thinking capacity than it typically does. Don’t analyze every thought that comes to your mind, just get it down on paper or recorded somehow.
Next, after you’ve got the rough ideas outlined somewhere, you can start using your secondary process. Look at the list of ideas and break them down, ask questions like “what would this look like in five years?” or “how could I make this a reality in less than an hour?”
Write down your answers, don’t just think about them. Things written down (or drawn out, or recorded on your phone) are fairly more tangible than an idea (which you can’t feel or touch or see or otherwise mess with in any practical way).
Now the hard part: create. Creation starts with primary process thinking as well, you want to quickly create something without having to analyze it. Perfection comes later in the game, at this stage you just have to get something out that you can add to or edit or chop up or (in some cases) throw away.
If you can’t explore your ideas in a way representative of their final form, there’s no way to determine whether they’re worthwhile or not. Postpone judgement until you’ve gotten down and dirty.
Ok, now that you’ve created something that you can actually interact with (by seeing, smelling, touching, tasting, or hearing it), then it’s time to switch back into critical mode. What are the parts that don’t work? What can be improved? Is the rough result anything like you imagined, or is it better/worse? What could you do to improve it? Whatever your answers are, either trash the concept or start improving until satisfied. Repeat.
Writers have to quickly jot down ideas for their novel one page at a time, without overly thinking what it is they’re writing. Editing always comes later (but it does come).
The painter who hesitates to make a stroke on the canvas will never make a masterpiece, they have to start and stop and do it all over to create anything worthwhile.
Inventors have to quickly run through possibilities before getting their hands dirty, as do designers and educators and leaders.
The creative process involves a lot of back and forth: creating and evaluating. You can’t do both at the same time to come up with anything worthwhile though. And you can’t truly be creative without both either. It’s finding out where creating and evaluating fit into your process that can get you on the right track.

Martin Luther King Jr. was christened Michael King Jr. When his father became pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1931, he adopted the name Martin Luther King Sr. — in honor of Protestant leader Martin Luther —

When MLK was six years old, his father changed his name on his birth certificate to Martin Luther King, Jr.
He skipped the 9th and 12th grades in school and entered Moorehouse College at age 15.
In 1939, Martin sang with his church choir in Atlanta at the gala premiere of the movie “Gone With The Wind”.
From 1957 until his death in 1968, he traveled more than 6 million miles. He gave over 2500 speeches during his travels. He also wrote 5 books and had published countless numbers of articles in newspapers and magazines.
There are over 900 streets named after Martin Luther King, Jr. around the world. Forty U.S. states have at least one MLK Jr. named road of their own.
In 1964, at age 35, he was the youngest person to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
According to a 1999 Gallup poll, King is the second most admired person in the 20th century, coming in second to Mother Theresa.
Martin Luther King’s favorite foods were pecan pie and fried chicken.
Although he was only 39 at the time of his death, autopsy results revealed the Civil Rights icon had the heart of a 60-year-old. The doctor believed this was a result of stress.

Over the last few centuries, people in Africa, India, and nearby Muslim countries have made natural toothbrushes from frayed twigs referred to as “chew sticks.” The best chewing sticks are made from twigs of the Salvadore Persica tree, which many ethnic groups call the “toothbrush tree.” Other chew sticks are made from twigs of the licorice bush, these chew sticks are also among the best quality chewing sticks available today.
Tests have shown that African chew sticks contain natural antibiotics, fluoride, and other anti-cavity ingredients. When Africans came to the United States, they brought their revolutionary idea with them. Many older people are finding themselves in their 80’s with healthy gums and cavity-free teeth, and they are using nothing but chew sticks to take care of them! The chewing action keeps the gums healthy, cleans the food from teeth and freshens the breath. Chew sticks are an easy and flavor-filled way to enjoy excellent dental health. Also in recent years, African chew sticks have been used as a successful way to quit smoking.

On Thursday, June 29, 1820, at 3:00 P.M., nineteen years before the “Amistad” incident, 283 African slaves (two dead and 281 were in chains) were aboard a slave vessel named “The Antelope”, when they were recaptured by the United States Treasury cutter “Dallas”, under the command of John Jackson.
The seizure occurred between Amelia Island and the Florida Coast. After about 2,576 days of captivity and legal battle in the United States, 120 Africans died, 2 were missing, 39 were enslaved in the United States (the 39 included 36 men, one woman, and two boys), and 120 Africans of the Antelope, (there were 22 additional recaptured Africans that were sent with this group, bringing the number to 142), were released from custody by the United States Supreme Court, and sent to Liberia on July 18, 1827.  [Source:  Black Facts]

On this date, June 20, in 1967, Muhammad Ali is convicted in Houston, Texas, in federal courts for violating Selective Service Act by refusing induction into the armed services. He was fined $10,000 and sentenced to five years in prison. Ali, an opponent of the Vietnam War, had refused to report for service on grounds that he was a Muslim minister.
Houston, June 20—Cassius Clay, the deposed heavyweight champion, was convicted by a jury tonight of violating the United States Selective Service laws by refusing to be drafted.
Federal District Judge Joe E. Ingraham sentenced Clay to five years in prison and fined him $10,000. This was the maximum penalty for the offense, which is a felony.
The judge’s sentence was pronounced immediately at Clay’s request.
"I’d appreciate it," the 25-year-old boxer said, "if the court will do it now, give me my sentence now, instead of waiting and stalling for time."
His lawyers said he “wants to be able to sleep tonight” without worrying what the sentence would be.  [Continue reading New York Times article.]

The perfect formula for creativity
We live in a time where fast money, quick success, and gimmicky tactics are marketed as the only thing you need to be happy and fulfilled.
It’s a mentality that is seen all too often when it comes to creativity as well, unfortunately. And I think it’s a path to creative failure.
Suddenly, with the massive growth of the Internet, we – as creatives ” tend to worship processes, formulates, and techniques that we read in books, or on blogs and websites, or that we see on videos, or that we get by paying someone to teach us.
But is this the right way to pursue creativity?
I can’t tell you how often I’m asked: “What’s the secret to creativity?” Or: “What is the best way to be really creative?”
The problem with these questions is that there isn’t a single answer. At least, not for the creative population at large. There is no Universal process to creativity. No scientific formula for having ideas. No guaranteed path of success. Try as we might to systematize it, creativity works differently for everyone. There is no ultimate secret or “best way” to be creative because of this fact.
One big thing I’ve learned over the last few years is this: yes, there are things you can do to empower creativity, and yes there are certain activities and processes that can help fuel ideation, but at the end of the day what works for one person may not work for you.
There is no package you can buy to make you more creative. No amount of videos on YouTube will make you aware of some super-secret and successful technique for being creative. There is no number of books that can assure you the ability to unlock some hidden creative potentially.
Simply because not all of those proposed techniques can work for everyone.
For example: the restless painter may get more from a spur-of-the-moment early morning painting session than the calm and strategic writer would get from attempting to randomly write at 1 am. No, in this scenario the writer would get more done by sticking to a set routine and creative schedule, while the painter would absolutely not.
It’s not that one process is universally right or better than the other, but in the case of the individual: it is.
So we, as creatives, have to find the processes that work best for us. The only way to do that is to try different things.
The real trick to being more creative is understanding how creativity works for you, individually. By reading websites and blogs and books, and intently listening to those TED video talks, and by asking a lot of questions, and consulting with people like myself, not to figure out some ultimate secret, but to figure out what works best for you.
Does setting a regular creative routine work for you? It doesn’t at all for me. What about creativity exercises, do you find that they give you the boost of inspiration you need to do creative work? I love doing creative exercises, because they do get me thinking creatively, but they may feel like a waste of time for you.
I don’t want you to read articles like this, or see a book that claims it can help you be more creative overnight and have you think that it’s true. Because, in almost every case: it’s not.
What is true is that all these various resources can show you a path, it’s your job to figure out whether or not it’s the right path for you.
If you’re a leader of a creative team, this wisdom is especially important. Finding each individual team member’s process for working and thinking can make all the difference between a successful team and a failing one. You have to guide them on their terms, not your own.
So go find what works for you, and remember: there are so many different options and techniques that you should never stop experimenting with new ones. Even if you find something that seems to work really well, there may be something out there that works even better.
Go find your own inspiration.
